# Demo environment

> Use the ClearSpend demo host to explore the product without your own organization data.

Explore ClearSpend on a **demo hostname** with sample data before you connect Gmail, card feeds, or your own invoices. The demo is separate from your company's live workspace.

## How demo mode behaves

When you open the app on the demo host:

* URLs omit the usual `/{orgId}` prefix (for example `/subscriptions` instead of `/org_xxx/subscriptions`).
* The sidebar may show a fixed label such as **Demo** instead of your organization name.
* Data is shared demonstration content; changes may reset or not persist.

Demo detection is automatic in the browser when the hostname matches the operator's `DEMO_HOSTNAME` configuration. You do not toggle demo mode inside a normal production workspace.

## Who should use it

* Evaluators getting a guided tour before signup
* Internal training without connecting real Gmail or card data
