The Xero integration (tagged Track Spend) links one or more Xero organisations so ClearSpend can import vendor bills and bank or card spend — then match them to invoices and receipts.
Read-only. ClearSpend reads from Xero. It never posts or edits transactions in your Xero file.

What you get

You can also export reconciled transactions from ClearSpend in Xero’s bank-statement import format — useful when you want to bring matched spend back into Xero manually.

Who can connect

Owners and Admins can connect and disconnect Xero. See Roles and permissions. You need a Xero login with permission to authorize third-party apps for the organisations you select.

Connect Xero

1

Open Integrations

Go to Integrations in the sidebar.
2

Find Xero

Locate the Xero card under Track Spend.
3

Click Connect

Click Connect. You are redirected to Xero’s sign-in screen.
4

Sign in and grant access

Sign in and allow ClearSpend to read accounting data. You can authorize more than one Xero organisation in a single login.
5

Pick organisations to sync

ClearSpend shows every organisation you authorized. Select the ones you want to import, then confirm. A first sync starts automatically for your selection.
6

Check Integrations

When sync completes, the Xero card shows linked organisations and last sync time.

Multiple Xero organisations

Xero often holds separate books per entity or region. During setup you choose which organisations ClearSpend should sync — you are not required to import all of them. Each selected organisation appears on the Xero card on Integrations. Run Sync now on any row to refresh that organisation’s data.

After you’re connected

Progress appears in the Activity log.

Export to Xero format

On Transactions, use Export and choose Xero — bank statement import. ClearSpend downloads a CSV shaped for Xero’s bank-statement import — handy when you want to move reconciled spend back into Xero on your own schedule.

How it fits your workflow

  1. Xero brings in bills and spend already in your accounting file.
  2. Gmail, Drive, or upload adds invoice PDFs and receipts.
  3. Transactions highlights what still needs proof.
Finance gets one reconciliation view without duplicating bookkeeping in two systems.

Common questions

No. The integration is read-only. Export gives you a file you can import into Xero yourself if you choose.
Reconnect Xero or run through setup again to authorize additional organisations, then include them in your selection.
Xero reflects what is already in your accounting file. Plaid pulls live card and bank feeds. Teams often use Xero when books are the source of truth and Plaid when they need real-time card data.
